Next DAISY Award nomination deadline is April 12

During National Nurses Week in May of each year, Greene County Medical Center, Family Medicine Clinic and Greene County public health nurses are recognized for their exceptional work through The DAISY Award® for Extraordinary Nurses.

Since 1999, this program has honored the men and women who provide outstanding care with grace, empathy and expertise and who have made a positive and lasting impact in the lives of patients, family members and/or colleagues.

“Nominations are received year-round for this award and everyone has the opportunity to share their story in this process,” said Greene County Medical Center patient experience and DAISY Award coordinator Kristi Wilson. “As we plan for our upcoming DAISY Awards ceremony, we want to remind everyone to ensure their nomination is received at Greene County Medical Center by the deadline of Friday, April 12.”

Nomination forms can be accessed online at DAISY Nomination Form (gcmchealth.com), or they can be found in displays throughout Greene County Medical Center.

The public is invited to attend the award ceremony Thursday, May 9, at 1:30 pm in the main lobby of the medical center. The award winner will receive a certificate, a DAISY Award pin, a hand-carved stone sculpture from Zimbabwe called “A Healers Touch” and a spotlight on the DAISY Foundation website.

The DAISY Award was created by the family of J. Patrick Barnes, who died at 33 from complications of idiopathic thrombocytopenia purpura, an auto-immune disease.
